Homers Help Mavs Extend Streak

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Lauren McArthur and Leslie Svoboda hit timely home runs and Taren Tuley and Cayte Billman pitched complete games Wednesday to help the Mavericks down Indiana (Pa.) 2-1 and Tiffin 7-0 and extend their winning streak to 11 games.
The Mavericks, 10-0 in the Rebel Spring Games and 16-3 overall, conclude their Florida trip Thursday with games against California (Pa.) and East Stroudsburg.
Katie Novotny doubled and scored on a double by Brooke Wagner to give UNO a 1-0 first-inning lead against Indiana. IUP tied the game in the top of the fourth on a two-out home run by Jodie Swavely, but McArthur led off the bottom of the fourth with a first-pitch home run, her third of the year, to give the Mavs the lead back.
Tuley hiked her record to 7-0 by holding IUP to just two hits while striking out eight.
In the second game, Svoboda tripled home Alison Jergenson in the first inning and then scored on a Tiffin error for a 2-0 lead.
Svoboda slammed her fourth homer of the year, a three-run shot, to key a five-run sixth for the Mavericks. Billman struck out five and gave up just four hits to improve to 7-2.
