2 Wins Give Mavericks a Perfect Trip

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Lauren McArthur hit a pair of two-run homers and Taren Tuley and Cheris Kuster each threw shutouts Thursday, helping the Mavericks to a pair of wins to complete a perfect Rebel Spring Games trip. The Mavs extended their win streak to 13 and finished 12-0 on the trip.
UNO downed California (Pa.) 5-0 and East Stroudsburg 4-0 to improve to 18-3.
Tuley struck out eight and held California (Pa.) to three hits and McArthur slugged a two-run homer, lifting the Mavericks to the first-game victory. Leslie Svoboda singled with two out in the top of the first and McArthur gave UNO a 2-0 lead with her fourth homer of the season.
The Mavericks added two more runs in the sixth as Brooke Wagner singled home McArthur and Katie Novotny. McArthur and Wagner each collected two hits and Novotny was 3-for-3.
Tuley, who walked just one, improved to 8-0 on the season.
UNO used an almost identical script to start the second game against East Stroudsburg as Sara Sortino stroked a single and Svoboda followed with her fifth home run in the first inning for a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth, Svoboda doubled and McArthur hit her fifth home run of the season. McArthur also doubled in the game and went 3-for-3, giving her a 5-for-7 day with four RBIs.
Kuster gave up just four hits, walked one and fanned eight to go to 3-1 on the year.
The Mavericks are back in action Tuesday with a doubleheader at Wayne State.
