UNO Receives No. 4 Seed at Worcester Regional

The University of Nebraska at Omaha men's hockey team has earned a No. 4 seed and will travel to the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., for the Northeast Regional of the 2006 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship, the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee announced Sunday. Nebraska-Omaha will face No. 1 seed Boston University at 3:00 p.m. CST Friday, followed by a game between No. 2 seed Miami and No. 3 Boston College at 6:00 p.m. CST.
The regional semifinal winners will face off at 5:00 p.m. CST Saturday, for a spot in the 2006 NCAA Frozen Four at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisc., April 6 and 8.
This is the first time in the nine-year history of the program that the Mavericks (20-14-6, 12-10-6/5th CCHA) will compete in the NCAA tournament.
Boston University (25-9-4, 17-7-3/1st Hockey East) holds a two-game lead in the all-time series with Nebraska-Omaha, 3-1. The schools split a two-game series in Omaha back in 2001. The Mavericks have since made two trips to Boston (2002, 2004) with the Terriers winning both of those contests.
NCAA Regional tickets will be available for purchase Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the UNO Athletic Department ticket office or by calling (402) 554-MAVS.
