Svoboda Earns NCC Honor; Snow Stops Mavs

Leslie Svoboda, who hit .440 and drove in 13 runs last week, earned North Central Conference player of the week honors. The Mavericks, with a 13-game win streak, will be idle until this weekend after having doubleheaders this week with Wayne State and Nebraska-Kearney postponed by the weather.
The Mavs, 18-3, are scheduled to play five games in the Quincy Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Svoboda helped lead UNO to an 8-0 mark last week. she had a double, three triples and three home runs and also scored nine runs.
Svoboda, a sophomore from Lincoln, shares the honor with South Dakota's Kerri Starcevich. Janet Barker of Minnesota State was named pitcher of the week.
