Kapels Earns 2nd All-NCC Honor

Senior guard Calvin Kapels, who finished his career as one of the all-time leaders in several school categories, was named to the 10-man all-North Central Conference team a second time, it was announced Monday, by a vote of the league's coaches.
Kapels, from Columbus, Neb., led the Mavericks in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.0 points and 7.6 rebounds in NCC play. Overall, Kapels averaged 15.6 points, 4.1 assists and 6.8 rebounds per game.
He scored 29 points in UNO's final game March 1 to climb into No. 12 in career scoring with 1,102 points. He also finished as the all-time leader in career steals with 191. He is just the second player in UNO history to record more than 1,000 points, 400 assists and 100 steals.
