Winning Streak Stretches to 16 Games

The Nebraska-Omaha baseball team stretched its winning streak to 16 games with 8-3 and 12-3 victories over Minnesota Duluth on Friday at the Ballpark at Boys Town.
UNO (31-7, 6-0 NCC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the opener. Chad Leon singled and stole second before Lyle Lafountain's RBI single. Min Sung then doubled and later scored on Evan Porter's sacrifice fly to left field. Porter then scored the fourth run of the inning on an RBI single by Marc Badalucco.
Nebraska-Omaha picked up a pair of runs in both the second and fourth innings to make the score 8-0.
UNO starter Tyler Cloyd improved to 5-0 on the season. He struck out eight and kept the Bulldogs scoreless for five innings before being allowing three runs in the sixth.
Lafountain finished with a game-high three RBIs. Leon was 2-for-3 and scored three times.
In the second game, UMD (7-21, 1-5 NCC) surrendered six first inning walks and saw UNO quickly erupt for an 8-0 lead.
The Mavs added three more runs in the fourth inning on RBI doubles by Marc Centofante and Derrick Kendrick. David Bodnar picked up his third home run of the season with a solo shot in the sixth inning.
UNO starting pitcher Josh Lundin scattered six hits and three runs over five innings to improve to 7-0 on the year.
The two teams will close out the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
