Newton, Houtz Boost Mavs to 4th

MARSHALL, Minn. -- Lindsay Newton fired a 78 and Mandy Houtz a 79 Saturday, helping move the Mavericks up to fourth place in the Southwest Minnesota State Invitational at the Marshall Country Club. North Dakota won the team title, finishing with a 634 to UNO's 655.
Lynn Mulligan's second-round 83 Saturday gave her a 161 to tie for ninth in the tournament. North Dakota's Liz Kaler won the individual title with a 76 Saturday for a six-over 150.
Newton finished at 161 and Houtz at 168 for the 36-hole event. The Mavericks shot a 323 Saturday to go with their first-round 332.
Minnesota State, with a 639, was second and Southwest Minnesota State, 650, was third.
