Mavs Split, Finish 3-2 in St. Paul Tourney

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Kellyn Kramolisch's two-out single scored Alison Jergenson in the bottom of the ninth to give the Mavericks a 4-3 win over Augustana in the Concordia-St. Paul Tournament Saturday. The Mavericks lost the first game of the day, 3-0, to Missouri Western and finished the two-day event 3-2.
The Mavericks, ranked No. 11 in NCAA II, are now 35-9 before hosting Minnesota State, Mankato in a North Central Conference doubleheader Tuesday at Claussen-Westgate Field at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
In the first game, Brianna Cataudella and Jergenson collected the only two hits off a pair of Missouri Western pitchers. The Mavericks couldn't take advantage of eight walks and two errors and stranded 12 baserunners.
In the second game, the Mavericks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Cataudella and a run-scoring triple by Jergenson in the second.
The Vikings tied the game with a pair of runs in the sixth on three singles off UNO starter Cheris Kuster (12-3).
Augustana claimed a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth, scoring on an infield single, but the Mavericks tied the game in the bottom of the inning as Lauren McArthur singled in Kramolisch.
Jergensen kept the Vikings from taking the lead again in the top of the ninth when she threw out Hillary Smith at the plate from center field. She then reached base on a fielder's choice in the ninth and advanced to third on a single by Sara Sortino before scoring on Kramolisch's single to center.
Leslie Svoboda, Katie Novotny and Kramolisch all had two hits in the game.
