Streak Ended with Loss to Wayne State

WAYNE, Neb.--The Nebraska-Omaha baseball team's bid for a school record 19 wins in a row fell short on Monday with a 9-4 loss to No. 23 Wayne State.
No. 13 UNO (33-8, 8-0 NCC) fell behind 4-0 in the third inning after WSC's Dustin Jones, Vincente Cafaro and Marc Manganaro all had RBI singles.
The Wildcats then scored one run in each of their final five at-bats to move to 27-8-1.
UNO scratched across a run in the top of the fourth on Matt Meyer's RBI single and plated two more runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Chad Leon on Bryan Frew. The Mavs scored once more in the sixth inning when Derrick Kendrick's single scored Tyler Cloyd.
Ryan Lafountain (4-1) suffered his first loss of the year. He allowed nine hits and six runs over 4 2/3 innings while striking out four.
UNO's Marc Centofante was 3-for-4 while Kendrick finished with two hits.
The Mavericks will host Winona State in a doubleheader on Wednesday at the Ballpark at Boys Town. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
