Centofante Leads Mavs to Sweep of Vikings

Marc Centofante went 4-for-6 and drove in five runs as Nebraska-Omaha swept Augustana 9-1 and 7-6 in a North central Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
UNO (39-8, 12-0 NCC) is 24-1 in its last 25 games and extended its unbeaten streak against NCC teams to 18 games, dating back to last season.
Centofante drilled a three-run homer in the second inning of the opener and Chad Leon added a two-run shot in the fifth inning as UNO cruised to a 9-1 victory. Nick Russell (5-1) won his third consecutive start, scattering three hits while striking out six in the complete game performance. Min Sung and Bryan Frew added two hits apiece.
The Mavs rallied for the second day in a row in the nightcap. UNO found themselves down 5-1 after three innings before plating five runs in the fourth inning. Centofante's two-run single was followed by Lyle Lafountain's RBI single to tie the score. David Bodnar then drove in Matt Meyer on a single for the go-ahead run in the fifth inning. Meyer turned in three hits, as did Lafountain.
Chris Barone (2-0), Brian Hauck and Shawn Smith combined to pitch the final 4 2/3 innings of the contest, allowing only three hits and one run.
