Mavs Start Week at UNK Wednesday

UNO will open its final week of regular season play with a non-conference doublheader Wednesday at Nebraska-Kearney before competing in the Friday-Saturday Jennies Invitational in Warrensburg, Mo. UNO will face Northwest Missouri State at 5 and Central Missouri State at 7 Friday night. On Saturday, the Mavs meet up with Pittsburg State at 10 a.m. and Missouri Western State at noon.
Last Week
The Mavericks clinched the NCC regular season title by winning six league games last week over Minnesota State, Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State.
The Records
Nebraska-Omaha is ranked No. 11 by the NFCA and No.3 in the NCAA II regional poll. The Mavericks have won seven straight and are 41-9 overall after posting an 11-1 NCC record.
The Coach
Maverick head coach Jeanne Tostenson Scarpello enters her seventh season at UNO with a record of 313-85-1. She has led the team to five NCC titles and six straight regional tournament appearances, including the national title in 2001. Her assistants are Michala Cimino, in her ninth season, and Denise Peterson, in her seventh year. Tostenson is the second coach in UNO history to record 300 career wins. Mary Yori is the all-time leader with 459 victories from 1989-99.
