UNO Closes Season With 4-1 Loss

EMPORIA, Kan. -- Minnesota State, Mankato's Jon Bjelland threw seven innings of shutout baseball, lifting his team to a 4-1 win over Nebraska-Omaha in the NCAA II Central Regional Saturday night. The loss ends UNO's season at 45-14.
The game was scoreless until the MSU sixth where they plated four runs on four hits and a UNO error. Adam Sudbeck drove in the first run of the game and Ben Kaus followed three batters later with a two-run single for a 4-0 lead.
Nebraska-Omaha scored a run in the eighth to make the score 4-1 after Bryan Frew reached on an error and later scored on a bunt single by Lyle Lafountain.
UNO starter Tim Huber went 5 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and one earned run.
UNO threatened in the opening inning, loading the bases with no outs but could not manufacture any runs. The Mavs left nine runners stranded in the contest.
Earlier in the day, Min Sung was 4-for-4 and UNO pounded out 16 hits to eliminate Missouri Western, 10-3. Lyle Lafountain, Chad Leon and David
Bodnar each drove in a pair of runs. Josh Lundin picked up his 10th win of the season, scattering five hits over seven innings.
