UNO Sets 2006-07 Hockey Schedule

The Nebraska-Omaha hockey team has set its 2006-07 schedule, head coach Mike Kemp announced Tuesday. The slate includes 14 Central Collegiate Hockey Association series as well as two tournaments and four non-conference matchups.
UNO, which finished 2005-06 with a 20-15-6 record, will play one home exhibition game Oct. 10 against Manitoba University before opening the regular season against Colorado College at the Nissan Tournament in Anchorage, Alaska, Oct. 13. The Mavericks then welcome Niagara, UMass-Lowell and Northern Michigan for the Mutual of Omaha Stampede Tournament, Oct. 20-21 before hosting its first CCHA series against Western Michigan on Oct. 27-28.
The month of November includes two home series, against Alaska Fairbanks (Nov. 3-4) and Notre Dame (Nov. 24 and 25), and two road series, at Michigan (Nov. 10-11) and against Miami (Nov. 17-18). The Mavs will also play the first leg of a home-and-home series with Minnesota State, Mankato in Mankato, Minn., on November 21. UNO will have two road trips in the month of December, one before finals break Dec. 1-2 at Bowling Green and one after the break Dec. 29 at Princeton and Dec. 30 at Yale. In between the two road trips will be a home series with Bentley on Dec. 8-10.
The Mavs open 2007 with a road series at Lake Superior State Jan. 5-6, before returning home for a three-game homestand against Bowling Green (Jan. 12-13) and Minnesota State, Mankato on Jan. 16. UNO then hits the road for a series at Ferris State Jan. 19-20 before hosting Northern Michigan on Jan. 26-27.
UNO begins February with a home series against Michigan State (Feb. 2-3) before traveling to Notre Dame on Feb. 9-10. UNO's last regular season home series will be held at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on Feb. 16-17 against Ohio State before closing out the regular season at Alaska Fairbanks on Feb. 23-24.
The Mavericks begin the first round of CCHA playoffs March 2-4. Teams finishing in the top 4 of the league standings earn a bye with the other top 4 schools hosting a best-of-three series. A second round of league playoffs is held March 9-11 before the CCHA Final Four on March 16-17.
The NCAA regionals will be played March 23-25 at sites to be determined and the NCAA Men's Frozen Four is April 5 & 7 at. St. Louis, Mo.
