
No. 8 Mavs Eye NCC Meet Friday, Saturday

The North Central Conference tournament is the next step for the Mavericks, who advanced from No. 11 to No. 8 in the latest NFCA Division II softball poll. The meet will be Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, in Grand Forks, N.D. UNO will play the winner of the Minnesota State-Minnesota Duluth game at 2:30 Friday.

The Mavericks swept Nebraska-Kearney on April 26, then were rained out of the Central Missouri State tournament over the weekend.
The Records Nebraska-Omaha is ranked No. 8 by the NFCA and No.2 in the NCAA II regional poll. The Mavericks have won nine straight and are 43-9 overall after posting an 11-1 NCC record.
The Coach
Maverick head coach Jeanne Tostenson Scarpello is in her seventh season at UNO with a record of 315-85-1. She has led the team to six NCC titles and six straight regional tournament appearances, including the national title in 2001. Her assistants are Michala Cimino, in her ninth season, and Denise Peterson, in her seventh year. Tostenson is the second coach in UNO history to record 300 career wins. Mary Yori is the all-time leader with 459 victories from 1989-99.
