Kaufmann, Mavs Blank Bowling Green, 7-0

Sophomore goaltender Jerad Kaufmann turned aside 28 shots for his first shutout of the season and Scott Parse scored a pair of goals as UNO extended its winning streak over Bowling Green to six games Saturday night with a 7-0 decision in front of 5,516 at Qwest Center Omaha. The game was televised statewide by Nebraska ETV and nationally by CSTV.
UNO is now 10-9-6 overall and 7-7-2 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, while last-place Bowling Green fell to 5-19-1 and 3-14-0 in suffering its fourth straight loss, with three of them shutouts.
The Mavericks scored twice in the first 10 minutes. Defenseman Eddie Del Grosso sent a shot from the left point into the slot and Jeric Agosta deflected the puck past Falcon goaltender Jimmy Spratt just 1:43 into the contest for his second of the year.
Mick Lawrence doubled the margin at 9:35 when he beat Spratt from the left side on passes from Adam Bartholomay and Brandon Scero for his sixth of the season.
Dan Charleston banged in his sixth of the season out of a goal-mouth melee midway through the second period for a 3-0 lead. Parse sent the puck into the crease and after Spratt made one save, Charleston poked in the rebound. Bryan Marshall also drew an assist on the play.
The Mavericks put the game away with a pair of power play goals just 33 seconds apart late in the second period. Parse scored his 15th of the year and Bartholomay his 10th after gaining a 4-on-3 power play. UNO's Bobby Henderson was ejected for fighting, while Bowling Green lost Todd McIlrath and Jeremy Bronson with minors. After Parse scored from the left circle, the Falcons' Mike Desdill was sent to the box for cross checking and Bartholomay beat Spratt from the right side.
In the third Brent Kisio scored his fifth of the year at 10:18 and Parse added his second of the game when he rifled a shot from the top of the left circle that bounced off Spratt's glove and into the net at 14:14 of the third.
The shutout, the second of the season for the Mavericks, was the third of Kaufmann's career.
UNO returns to the ice Tuesday to host Minnesota State, Mankato at 7:05 in its final non-conference game of the season.
