Mavericks Host Minnesota State Tuesday

The Mavericks will play their final non-conference game of the regular season when they host Minnesoita State, Mankato at Qwest Center Omaha at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday. The game starts off a three-game week for UNO, which will resume CCHA action with a Friday-Saturday series at Ferris State.
Media Coverage
The games will be broadcast on KKAR, 1290 AM, with the pre-game show beginning 30 minutes before faceoff. Greg Harrington will call the action, with Terry Leahy providing color commentary.
The Records
The Mavericks are 10-9-6 overall before hosting Minnesota State. MSU, which plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, is 7-14-4.
The Coaches
Nebraska-Omaha's Mike Kemp is in his 10th season as the Maverick head coach. Kemp is a 1975 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. The Duluth, Minn., native is 154-180-43 at UNO overall and has an 84-97-31 record in the CCHA. Kemp is 5-11-3 vs. Minnesota State. Troy Jutting is in his seventh season behind the Minnesota State bench. The 1987 MSU graduate is 102-124-32 over that span and is 8-1-2 against the Mavericks.
The Series
Minnesota State holds an 11-5-3 advantage in the all-time series. The teams skated to a 4-4 tie earlier this year in Mankato. UNO has not beaten MSU since February, 2002 (0-8-2 in that span).
The First Meeting
Scott Parse's goal at 9:26 of the third pulled UNO into a 4-4 tie at Minnesota State on Nov. 21. UNO took a 2-0 lead on goals by Brent Kisio in the first and Brandon Scero 34 seconds into the second and after MSU came back with a shorthanded goal, Adam Bartholmay made it 3-1. But MSU rallied with two goals in the second just 61 seconds apart and took the lead 5:32 into the third.
Last Games
The Mavericks swept Bowling Green by 2-1 and 7-0 scores at home last weekend, giving UNO a four-game sweep of the season series with the Falcons. UNO outscored BGSU 20-3 in those four games. Friday night, Scott Parse beat BG goaltender Jimmy Spratt from just outside the crease with 54.4 seconds left. Saturday, Parse scored a pair of goals and Jerad Kaufmann made 28 stops. The Mavs scored twice in the first 9:35 and took a 5-0 lead in the second with power play goals just 33 seconds apart by Parse and Adam Bartholomay.

The Mavericks travel to Ferris State for a Jan. 19-20 CCHA series in Big Rapids, Mich. UNO returns to home ice on Jan. 26-27, hosting Northern Michigan to start a four-game homestand.
