Ferris State Earns a Split with 6-3 Victory Over U

BIG RAPIDS, Mich.- Ferris State's Zac Pearson scored two unassisted goals in the third period to secure a 6-3 Central Collegiate Hockey Association win over the Mavericks Saturday.
The Mavericks are now 11-11-6 overall and 8-8-2 in the CCHA and Ferris is 7-15-3 overall and 4-11-2 in the conference. UNO will host Northern Michigan at the Qwest Center Fridayand Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CST.
The Bulldogs were first on the board with a goal from Brendan Connolly at 7:48. Mick Lawrence tied the score at 11:51 with assists from sophomore forward Adam Bartholomay and sophomore defenseman Juha Uotila.
Ferris State regained the lead and extended it in the second with goals from Adam Miller at 3:30, Cody Chupp at 4:19 and a power-play goal from Matt Verdone with 1:48 left in the period for a 4-1 lead.
Sophomore goalie Jerad Kaufmann was pulled and replaced by freshman goalie Jeremie Dupont at 4:19.
UNO's Dan Charleston cut the lead in half at 4:10 of the third with the assist coming from freshman defenseman Eddie Del Grosso, but FSU's Zac Pearson put the Bulldogs up 5-2 on a breakaway at 8:12.
Lawrence netted his second goal of the night with the assists going to Bartholomay and Charleston to bring the Mavs within two at 9:05 on a power play. Pearson got his second marker at 19:14 on an empty net to end the game 6-3.
