Two Tough Challenges Await Mavericks

The UNO women's basketball team faces two more tough challenges this week with North Central Conference matchups against Augustana Thursday at Sapp Fieldhouse, then visiting St. Cloud State Saturday.
The Vikings defeated the Mavericks, 70-62, in the NCC opener on Jan. 4. Since then, Augie has pushed its school-record win streak to 20 games and vaulted to No. 8 in the latest Division II poll. Augie stands at 20-2 on the year, 5-0 in NCC play. Its most recent game was a 72-67 win at Minnesota State last Saturday.
Alison Adamson scored 23 points to lead the Vikings, adding three rebounds and four assists. She leads the team with 15.3 points per game. Ashley Holiday adds 13.5 points and a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game.
The Huskies won their most recent game, an 87-46 nonconference victory over Minnesota-Crookston on Tuesday. Last week they dropped conference games to Augustana and Minnesota Duluth.
St. Cloud State is only 1-4 in NCC play, but features the conference's most dominant player in Erika Quigley. She is averaging 26.0 points and 13.2 rebounds per game in conference action.
Quigley earned Player of the Week honors despite two losses. She became her school's all-time leading scorer with 32 points against Minnesota Duluth. She added 11 rebounds and six blocks in that game. It was her fifth Player of the Week nod this season.
