UNO falls to Lake Superior State 3-2

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. --Lake Superior State's Josh Sim's overtime goal gave the Lakers a 3-2 win over the the Mavericks Saturday night in Central Collegiate Hockey Association play.
The Mavericks fell to 8-9-6 overall and 5-7-2 in the CCHA. UNO will play next on home ice when Bowling Green comes to the Qwest Center Friday January 12 at 7:05 p.m. CST.
For the fourth game in a row UNO headed into overtime. The previous two games resulted in ties, but this one was different as Sim scored out of a goal-mouth scramble at 1:39.
In the first period senior forward Scott Parse scored on passes from Bryan Marshall and Mark Bernier at 11:25.
The goalies were the stars of a scoreless second period as UNO's sophomore Jerad Kaufmann stopped 17 Laker shots and Pat Inglis stopped 11 for LSSU.
The Lakers got on the board at 14:58 of the third period with a goal from Dan Eves, then took the lead with a power play goal from Nathan Pekrowich at 16:27.
Parse answered with his second goal of the game just 33 seconds later when he knocked in a rebound on a scramble in front of the net to tie the game at 2.
