Mavericks to Hold Intrasquad Game Sunday

Hockey fans will get a chance to preview the 2007-08 Mavericks up close and personal when they hold an intrasquad game Sunday afternoon at 1 at Tranquility Ice Arena. Afterward, fans can skate with the Mavs until 4 p.m. Both events are open to the public with free admission and skate rental will be available.
The Mavericks will divide into Red and White squads and compete in a shortened game, beginning at 1 and lasting approximately 90 minutes.
UNO returns 11 of its top 13 scorers from last year's team, plus its three-man goaltending corps. UNO finished fifth in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association last season with an 18-16-8 record.
The Mavericks will also hold their Media Day on Monday at 2 p.m. on the Qwest Center ice.
UNO will open the new season next weekend, hosting the Mutual of Omaha Maverick Stampede on Oct. 19-20. UNO will face Manitoba on Friday at 7 p.m. following a 4 p.m. contest between Canisius and Alabama-Huntsville. The third-place game is at 4 Saturday afternoon and the championship game will be at 7 p.m.
