Mavs Notch Non-Conference Sweep Over Peacocks

FAYETTE, Iowa -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team notched its second-straight sweep, a 3-0 (30-24, 30-18, 31-29) non-conference victory over Upper Iowa Tuesday night at Dorman Gym.
With the win, Nebraska-Omaha improved to 11-8 overall on the season while Upper Iowa fell to 4-20.
Sophomore Ellen Thommes led the Mavericks with 11 kills on .409 hitting, while adding six digs and two blocks. Senior Nicole McLeod hit .381 with nine kills, only one error in 22 attempts, while registering a team-high 14 digs.
The UNO defense held the Peacocks to a .068 hitting percentage while holding a 40 to 32 advantage in digs.
Senior Carlie Christensen tallied a match-high six blocks, while blasting nine kills.
Senior Katie Agnew directed the Maverick offense to a .190 hitting percentage, recording 35 assists, nine digs, and two kills.
The Mavericks resume North Central Conference action on Friday, Oct. 19, when they travel to Vermillion, S.D. for a 7 p.m. match against South Dakota.
