Mavs Cruise to 76-48 Win Over Grand View

The University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball team won its third in a row to open the season, soundly defeating Grand View, 76-48, Tuesday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks wasted no time taking command of the game, jumping out to a staggering 20-3 lead in the first seven minutes of action. UNO continued its pressure defense, not giving the Vikings (2-5) many easy shots. Grand View shot only 27 percent in the first half, compared to 48 percent for the Mavs, allowing the home team to cruise to a 42-23 halftime lead.
Though the shooting cooled down in the second half, UNO continued to control the tempo, never allowing the Vikings within 21 points, with the lead getting as high as 31 points at one point.
LaToya Wright led the Mavs with 19 points, adding six rebounds and three assists. Alyssa Green scored 13 on the night, all coming in the first half, adding six rebounds.
Green, Lindsey Klug and Amanda Brodsack each had four steals, as UNO amassed 21 steals. Ashley Nelson was the leading rebounder with seven.
Grand View's leading scorer, Angie Creighton was held to 12 points, on 5-of-14 shooting. She tied for the team lead with Beth Ehlers and Molly Gunsaulus. Creighton led the Vikings with 14 rebounds, adding four blocked shots.
The Mavericks next action will be at the annual Thanksgiving Classic. UNO will take on Lincoln Friday night at 6, then Missouri-St. Louis Saturday also at 6.
