Two Old Foes Visit Mavs for Weekend Tournament

The University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball team will be hosting the annual Thanksgiving Classic this weekend, facing two teams the Mavs haven't seen in a good number of years.
Friday UNO hosts Lincoln (Mo.), a team it last met in 1999, then Saturday the Mavericks take on Missouri-St. Louis for the first time since 1980.
For the second year in a row, but only the third time in eight years, UNO started the season with three straight wins, defeating Dana, Rockhurst and Grand View.
LaToya Wright has been a driving force for the Mavs, scoring 15 points per game, adding 8.7 rebounds.
Another newcomer, Amanda Brodsack, has shown her all-around skills, scoring 12.7 points, with 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Alyssa Green, last season's NCC Freshman of the Year, has picked up right where she left off, leading the Mavs with 15.7 points and adding 7.3 rebounds.
This will be just the second-ever meeting between the Mavericks and Lincoln Blue Tigers. The last meeting was the opener of the 1999-2000 season, with UNO taking a 72-57 victory.
The Mavericks have faced the Tritons just one other time, winning 70-50, in the finals of the Gateway Invitational in St. Louis on Nov. 30, 1980.
