Team Effort Leads Mavs to Fifth Win in a Row

Ten different players dotted the scoresheet, helping the University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball team its fifth win a row to start the season, defeating Missouri-St. Louis, 60-46, Saturday night in the UNO Thanksgiving Classic at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Cayla Hargrove scored 13 points off the bench to lead the Mavericks with Amanda Brodsack also reaching double-figures with 11. LaToya Wright followed with nine points, adding a team-best 11 rebounds.
Nine players scored for UNO in the first half as the Mavericks shot 56 percent, taking a 38-15 lead into the break. Brodsack and Wright had nine a piece. In a three-and-a-half minute stretch, UNO rolled off 14 straight points, extending a 10-point lead to 24. Wright scored seven points in the run, including a 3-pointer.
The Tritons (0-3) played a stronger second half, outscoring the Mavs, 31-22, although UNO didn't help itself, shooting only 26 percent after the intermission. Leslie Ricker led UMSL with 10 points, tying with Mary Slaughter for the team lead in rebounds with seven.
The Mavericks host another tournament next weekend, the Doubletree Downtown Classic. UNO faces two regional rivals, Central Missouri on Friday, then Metro State on Saturday.
