
Mavericks on the Road at Ohio State

Columbus, Ohio - Nebraska-Omaha goes on the road for a Thursday - Friday series against Central Collegiate Hockey Association cluster mate, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Both games will start at 6:05 p.m. CST. The teams are playing the Thursday-Friday series to avoid having to play after the No. 1 Ohio State football game Saturday.
The Coaches
Nebraska-Omaha's Mike Kemp is in his 11th season as the Maverick head coach. Kemp is a 1975 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. The Duluth, Minn., native is 163-189-47 at UNO overall and has a 100-103-33 mark in the CCHA. John Markell is in his 13th full season with Ohio State and his career record stands at 232-215-42 overall and 164-154-33 in the CCHA
The Series
Ohio State holds a slim 11-9-3 edge in the all-time series, including a 6-2-2 mark in Columbus. The teams last met in Columbus Jan. 13-14, 2006, a 2-0 win for UNO in the opener and a 2-2 tie in game two. In the last 10 meetings, Ohio State leads 5-3-2. The last time the Mavs and Buckeyes met, senior forward Bryan Marshall scored to clinch home ice for the first round of CCHA playoffs (Feb. 17) in the first minute of overtime in Omaha at the Civic Auditorium.
Media Coverage
The games will be broadcast on KKAR, 1290 AM, with the pregame show beginning 20 minutes before face-off. Greg Harrington will call the action, with Terry Leahy providing color commentary.
Last week
No. 2 Michigan swept the Mavs 6-3 and 3-2 at the Qwest Center Omaha. The series brought in season high attendance of 17,403 fans for the two games. This was the first sweep of UNO at home since October 20-21, 2005 when Miami swept the team 6-3 and 3-2.
