Mavericks Skate Past Ohio State, 5-2

Columbus, Ohio - Senior forward Brandon Scero netted two goals and had an assist to end Nebraska-Omaha's four game losing streak with a 5-2 win over Ohio State in Thursday night's Central Collegiate Hockey Association action.
Nebraska-Omaha is now 2-4-0 and 1-4-0 in the CCHA and the Buckeyes fell to 2-5-0 and 0-5-0 in the conference. The two teams take to the ice again Friday at 6:05 p.m. CST at the Value City Arena.
After a scoreless first, six goals were scored in the second starting with freshman defenseman Alain Goulet's power-play goal at 1:12 with assists going to senior forward Bryan Marshall and Scero.
Ohio State evened the score 1:46 later with a goal from Mathieu Picard.
UNO retook the lead with a shorthanded goal from sophomore forward Jeric Agosta with the single assist from sophomore forward Dan Swanson. Sophomore forward JJ Koehler netted his first goal of the season and the eventual game-winner at 6:11. Swanson and freshman defenseman Pasko Skarica had the helpers. The Mavs' final goal of the stanza came from Scero with assists from Goulet and Marshall.
OSU's Tom Fritsche had a marker at 12:25 to make it a 4-2 game.
Scero ended the scoring with his second power-play goal of the night at 16:26. The Mavs killed off seven penalties and sophomore Jerad Kaufmann stopped 21 shots in the victory.
