Wright's 21 Lead Mavs Over CSU-Pueblo, 75-66

LaToya Wright scored 21 points to lead the University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball team to its tenth win of the season, 75-66, over Colorado State-Pueblo in a nonconference game Monday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks (10-1) almost had two 20-point scorers, as Cayla Hargrove finished with 19 off the bench, tying her career high. Amanda Brodsack fell one rebound shy of her second double-double of the year, scoring 12 points with a team-high nine boards. Alyssa Green also scored 12 for the Mavs.
UNO was plagued by turnovers in the first half, but took advantage of numerous fouls by the ThunderWolves (7-4), as the Mavs converted 17 of 20 free-throw tries. At one stretch, 11 straight points came at the charity stripe. UNO held a 35-24 edge on the scoreboard at the break.
The team would go 12 for 16 on free throws in the second half, finishing the game at 81 percent. The Mavericks also held a 43-35 advantage in rebounds for the game.
CSUP's Rachel Espinoza put in a valiant second-half effort, scoring 16 of her 23 points, adding six rebounds and five steals.
The Mavericks close out their 10-game homestand Wednesday against Newman at 6 p.m. That game will be followed by the UNO men, who will take on Sioux Falls. The Newman and CSUP women's teams will face each other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
