Mavericks Tie Lakers, 1-1

OMAHA, Neb. -- Lake Superior State goalie Pat Inglis stopped 36 shots and allowed just one goal, as he helped the Lakers earn their first conference point of the season with a 1-1 tie of Nebraska-Omaha in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action Friday night at the Qwest Center Omaha.
A scoreless game for the first 30 minutes, it was Lake Superior State that struck first in the second period. Steven Kaunisto gave the Lakers a 1-0 lead at 5:21 of the second, beating UNO junior goalkeeper Jerad Kaufmann on the powerplay.
The Mavs were able to knot the game at 1-1 just 51 seconds into the third frame when junior forward Tomas Klempa scored from a scrum in front of the Lakers' net. Bryan Marshall and Dan Charleston got the assists on the goal.
Both teams traded scoring chances in the third, but Klempa's goal early in the period capped the scoring for the night. The game ended in a one-all tie.
The Mavericks managed to out shoot the Lakers 37-15 on the night, including a 2-1 edge in the overtime.
With the tie UNO moves to 5-7-2 on the season and 4-7-2 in CCHA play. LSSU is now 2-11-2 and 0-8-1.
The two teams will be back in action Saturday night as they conclude their two-game series at the Qwest Center Omaha. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
