Irish Stun Mavericks in Last Seconds, 4-2

South Bend, Ind.-- No. 1 ranked Notre Dame scored twice in the final 10 seconds to stun the Mavericks, 4-2, Friday night in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action.
The Mavs fell to 13-13-7 overall and 10-10-3 in the CCHA while Notre Dame improved to 24-5-2 and 18-3-2 in the conference. The teams will meet again Saturday night at the Joyce Center with the puck dropping at 7:05 p.m. CST.
Both teams went scoreless in the first two periods with the Mavericks killing off four penalties.
In the third stanza the leads were exchanged three times. The Irish were first to get on the board with a marker from Kevin Deeth just 1:43 into the period. The Mavericks grabbed the lead with goals just 57 seconds apart. Freshman forward Jeric Agosta tied at 3:55 with assists from freshman defenseman Mark Bernier and junior forward Brandon Scero, then took the lead with a power-play goal from sophomore forward Dan Charleston at 4:52.
Notre Dame tied at 2 with a goal from Justin White at 11:02 on a power play. The game-winning goal for the Irish came at 19:50 from Deeth. Notre Dame sealed the win with an empty-net goal from T.J. Jindra at 19:53.
