UNO Posts 2 Florida Victories

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Cheris Kuster tossed a two-hit shutout and the Mavericks used a 10-hit offensive attack to fuel a pair of wins Wednesday in the Rebel Spring Games. UNO blanked East Stroudsburg, 3-0, and then defeated Merrimack, 6-4, to raise its record to 5-5.
The Mavericks conclude the 12-game trip Thursday with games at Noon CDT against Massachusetts-Lowell and at 4 p.m. against California (Pa.).
Kuster struck out 10 batters in the first game and Kelly Kramolisch stroked a two-run second-inning double. Amanda Bader added an insurance run with an RBI single in the sixth.
In the second game, UNO built a five-run leadwith a three-run third and a two-run fourth. Leslie Svoboda tripled home a pair of runs and Treighton Yates singled her home in the third. Sara Sortino doubled in a run in the fourth.
Merrimack came back to score three in the top of the fifth, but the Mavs answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and Taren Kirk earned the win. Alison Jergenson went 3-for-4 for UNO and scored twice.
