Mavs Drop Heartbreaker to SW Minnesota State

FT. MEYERS, Fla. -- Southwest Minnesota State spoiled a dramatic ninth-inning, game-tying home run by Tyler Cloyd and pulled out a 7-6 win in 10 innings Friday morning in the Gene Cusic Classic.
The loss dropped the Mavericks to 8-10, while Southwest Minnesota improved to 9-5. UNO will play Wayne (Mich.) State in a single game Saturday morning at 8, with the Teamline broadcast set for 7:55 a.m. on the Maverick website.
The Mustangs broke a 3-3 tie by pushing across three runs in the top of the ninth inning, but Cloyd forced extra innings when he belted his fourth home run of the season with two outs in the bottom of the inning. Southwest Minnesota scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th.
