Mavs Host South Dakota; Games Moved to 3 & 5 p.m.

The Mavericks face their busiest week of the season, with nine games on tap this week, but the good news is that all of them will be at home. UNO kicks off the week against South Dakota in a North Central Conference twin-bill Tuesday at 3 p.m. and Nebraska-Kearney in a Wednesday doubleheader at 2 p.m. Both will be at Claussen-Westgate Field.
Saturday and Sunday, the Mavs host the UNO Invitational at Dill Field, playing three the first day and two more on Sunday. The UNO tournament games:
Saturday: 9 a.m. vs. Pittsburg State; 11 a.m. vs. Truman State; 3 p.m. vs. Wayne State. Sunday: 9 a.m. vs. Washburn; 1 p.m. vs. Northwest Missouri State.
The Record
Nebraska-Omaha has won seven of its past nine games and enters the week at 10-7. UNK is 10-8 and South Dakota is 9-15.
The Coach
Maverick head coach Jeanne Tostenson Scarpello is in her eighth season at UNO with a record of 329-96-1. She has led the team to six NCC titles and six straight regional tournament appearances, including the national title in 2001. Her assistants are Michala Cimino, in her 10th season, Kevin Dunn and Cory Petermann. Scarpello is the second coach in UNO history to record 300 career wins. Mary Yori is the all-time leader with 459 victories from 1989-99.
Last Week
The Mavericks went 3-2 last week in non-conference play, including a doubleheader sweep of Northwest Missouri State and a win over Missouri Southern. Those wins were sandwiched by a pair of extra-inning losses to No. 6 Emporia State and No. 19 Northeastern State.
On Deck
The Mavericks continue their long homestand, hosting NCC doubleheaders with Minnesota Duluth April 5 and St. Cloud State on April 6.
