Mavs on Road for North Dakota Tests

The Mavericks travel to North Dakota to meet the Fighting Sioux in a North Central Conference doubleheader Friday at noon. Nebraska-Omaha is 23-13 on the year. The Mavericks, ranked No. 21 in the nation and No. 3 in the North Central Region, are 5-3 in the NCC. North Dakota is 13-15 on the year and 1-3 in the NCC.
The Coach
Maverick head coach Jeanne Tostenson Scarpello is in her eighth season at UNO with a record of 342-102-1. She has led the team to six NCC titles and six straight regional tournament appearances, including the national title in 2001. Her assistants are Michala Cimino, in her 10th season, Kevin Dunn and Cory Petermann. Scarpello is the second coach in UNO history to record 300 career wins.

Junior Jenifer McDowell tied a school record with three home runs against Augustana April 17, driving in 8 runs in a 9-3 win. The feat tied Michala Cimino's performance in 1994...Melissa Negrete earned NCC pitcher of the week honors after twirling a perfect game against Upper Iowa April 15...
