Cloyd, Huber Shut Down Augustana

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Tyler Cloyd tossed a complete game and Tim Huber allowed just one hit in six innings, leading the University of Nebraska-Omaha baseball team to a sweep of a North Central Conference doubleheader with Augustana, 7-1 and 10-1, Saturday at Ronken Field.
The Mavericks have won five in a row and 15 of their last 18, improving to 24-16 on the year, and 8-2 in NCC play. The Vikings fall to 14-16, 3-5.
Cloyd (7-2) went the distance for the third game in a row, allowing just one run on six hits, striking out 10. It was his fifth straight win and second straight with 10 punchouts. The Mavs held a slim 2-0 until the sixth when they plated five runs. Matt Boro had a two-run single, with Evan Porter driving in two with a double later in the inning.
Huber (4-1) won his second start in a row, throwing six shutout innings, allowing just one hit and three walks while striking out eight. UNO wasted no time putting runs on the board, as the Mavs took advantage of three Vikings errors in the first to score three runs, then four more in the second. Chris Weimer had an RBI triple, while Porter and Cloyd added runs with sacrifice flies. Weimer went 4-for-5 in the game with two RBIs and three runs scored.
The Mavericks and Vikings are scheduled to play another doubleheader Sunday starting at 1 p.m. at Boys Town, weather permitting.
