Mavericks Take Two From Sioux, Both 4-2

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Casey Klapperich and Chris Weimer each homered, leading the University of Nebraska-Omaha baseball team to a North Central Conference doubleheader sweep of North Dakota, each by a 4-2 score, Saturday at Kraft Field.
The Mavericks extended their winning streak to nine games and have won 19 of their last 22 games, bringing their overall record to 28-16, and 12-2 in NCC play. The Sioux fall to 14-15, 3-9.
Bryan Frew singled home a run, then came around to score in the top of the fifth inning of the first game for the go-ahead run. Klapperich's second home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth, added insurance. Tim Huber (5-1) turned in another strong pitching performance, going six and one-third, allowing two runs on six hits, walking five and striking out eight. Brandon Dahl recorded the final two outs to earn his third save.
Tyler Cloyd (8-2) recorded another complete game in the second game, his sixth of the season, allowing two runs on six hits, while fanning nine. Weimer's home run leading off the sixth inning, his team-leading 12th of the year, proved to be the game-winner, but Matt Boro added a run-scoring double for good measure.
