Mavs Rally, Down Augustana, 9-7

ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The Mavericks pushed across a pair of runs in the fifth inning and added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings Thursday night to finish a come-from-behind 9-7 win over Augustana in the North Central Conference tournament.
UNO, now 31-20, will meet Minnesota State, Mankato at 6 Friday night in a winner's bracket game in the double elimination tournament.
Alex Kotera hit a solo homer and Chris Weimer a two-run shot in the first inning for a 3-1 UNO lead, but the Vikings came back and led 4-3 in the third. UNO regained the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Tim Huber and a passed ball that allowed Weimer to score.
The Vikings, who advanced to the game on the strength of a win earlier in the day over North Dakota, scored twice in the fourth for a 6-5 lead.
UNO tied in the fifth on an RBI single by Matt Boro and a bases loaded walk by Brian Goliber. Goliber added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh and UNO added another when Matt Eikmeier scored on a Viking error in the eighth.
Brandon Dahl earned the win for UNO in relief of starter Tyler Cloyd and Blake Denoyer recorded the save, pitching the final 1 2/3 innings. Weimer went 4-5, drove in two runs and scored three times and Boro went 4-for-5.
