Huber Hurls Mavs Past MSU, 4-1

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Tim Huber held No. 15 Minnesota State, Mankato to four hits through seven innings while Chris Weimer and Brian Goliber each drove in a pair of runs to help UNO post a 4-1 win in the opening game of the NCAA II Central Regional baseball tournament Thursday.
UNO (33-22) continues NCAA Division II Regional play Friday afternoon against Wayne State(Neb.) at 3:30.
Weimer singled home right fielder Shawn Smith to break open a scoreless game in the top of the third inning for UNO. Alex Kotera started off a three-run fifth for UNO with a lead-off triple. Weimer followed with a double and Evan Porter was hit by a pitch. After Matt Eikmeier executed a sacrifice bunt, Goliber singled up the middle to score two.
Huber held MSU to a pair of singles until the eighth. Minnesota State loaded the bases with one out on two singles and a walk before reliever Brandon Dahl came on to get a double play grounder to end the threat.
Minnesota State scored its only run in the ninth when lead-off batter Nick Gonzalez reached on an error and scored on a single by Kyle Hoover.
