
Mavs Post 10-3 Win Over Wayne State at Central Reg

WARRENSBURG, Mo.- The University of Nebraska at Omaha sent 13 batters to the plate and posted eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Friday afternoon as they defeated in-state rival Wayne State, 10-3, in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament.
UNO (34-22) will play the University of Central Missouri Saturday at noon.
Chris Weimer and Alex Kotera led a UNO offensive attack that blistered the Wildcats for 15 hits. Weimer went 2-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBIs, while Kotera added four more hits and a pair of RBIs. Brian Goliber drove in two more runs. UNO also got offensive help from Evan Porter who had two doubles on his way to a three-hit afternoon and Matt Eikmeier and Casey Klapperich each had multi-hit days for the Mavs.
UNO starter Josh Lundin went seven and two-thirds strong innings to earn the victory for the Mavericks, surrendering three runs on six hits and striking out 12 batters to improve to 6-5 on the year.
Wayne State threatened in the top of the eighth, plating two runs and advancing runners to second and third before UNO reliever Blake Denoyer came on in relief of Lundin to end the rally.
