Mavericks Sign 6 Players to National Letters

University of Nebraska at Omaha head women's basketball coach Patty Patton Shearer announced today that six junior college players have signed national letters of intent to attend UNO next fall and play for the Mavericks.
"This group is a very gifted and competitive group of young women," Shearer said. "We have been particularly excited to watch their successes over the past year. We know that each of these players bring unique talents, skills and experience to the UNO basketball family. We are very eager to put all of the pieces together next year and move the program forward."
Shearer and her staff, which includes assistant coaches Jason Flores, Brad Schick and Maurtice Ivy will be starting their fourth season next year.
The recruiting class:
Amanda Brodsack, 6-1, forward, Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Kirkwood Community College)
She earned second-team all-region honors under coach Kim Muhl at Kirkwood Community College, helping the team to a 35-1 record and the national junior college championship. She is planning to major in criminal justice at UNO.
Kamillia Brown, 5-4, guard, Kansas City, Mo. (McCook Community College)
She signed a national letter with the Mavericks last fall and was a two-time first-team all conference and all-region player under coach Michelle Orton, helping the team to a league championship. Also an excellent student, she carried a 3.9 cumulative grade point average and was a two-time academic all-region selection. She is planning to major in criminal justice at UNO.
Mary Brown, 5-10, wing, Thermopolis, Wyo. (Casper College)
An all-region player at Casper College under coach Angelo Hill, she helped lead the team to a 26-9 record and the regional championship. Also an excellent student, she carried a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA and earned academic all-region honors as well. She will major in biology at UNO.
Lindsey Klug, 5-6, guard, Lincoln, Neb. (Cloud County Community College)
She led her Cloud Country Community College team,coached by Brett Erkenbrack, in assists with 143 while leading it to a 27-4 record and a No. 12 national junior college ranking. She ranks No. 3 in career assists with 299 and No. 6 in steals with 166. She will major in business marketing at UNO.
Cassi Siska, 5-8, combo-guard, Highland, Ind. (Kankakee Community College)
A second-team all-region and all-district player under coach Donnie Denson at Kankakee Community College, she helped lead the team to a 25-7 record, a regional championship and into the national title game. She will major in sign language at UNO.
LaToya Wright, 5-9, swing, Galesburg, Ill. (Carl Sandburg College)
The conference player of the year at Carl Sandburg College under coach Mike Bailey, she was a two-time first-team junior college All-American as well as a two-time all-conference and all-region pick. She led the team to a 33-2 record, the regional title and a No. 5 national ranking. She will major in communications at UNO.
UNO lost five seniors from last year's team.
