Mavs Host MSU, First Place on the Line

The University of Nebraska-Omaha baseball team, winner of 20 of its last 24 games, closes out the North Central Conference season this weekend with a chance to win the regular season championship. The Mavs host defending champion Minnesota State-Mankato, which enters play holding a 1.5-game lead over UNO.
The Mavs extended their winning streak to nine games with a pair of 4-2 wins at North Dakota Saturday, but the streak got snapped with a 5-1 loss Sunday. UNO exacted revenge, however, blasting nine home runs in the final game of the series, taking a 22-14 victory. Matt Boro and Alex Kotera each went deep twice, with Tyler Cloyd, Chris Weimer, Matt Eikmeier and Matt Meyer also hitting home runs.
Next weekend UNO and the rest of the North Central Conference will convene in St. Cloud, Minn. for the postseason tournament. The Mavericks finished second in last year's tourney, with MSU taking the crown.
