Nick Fohr Named Mav Assistant Coach

Nick Fohr, who has spent three years as the director of operations for the Maverick hockey team, will become an assistant coach, University of Nebraska at Omaha head hockey coach Mike Kemp announced Monday.
Fohr replaces Doc DelCastillo, who left after five seasons to become the head coach at Alaska earlier this month.
"Obviously, we turned to someone we feel very highly about and who knows our program inside and out to replace Doc," Kemp said.
Fohr joins Todd Jones, who will be in his fourth season, as the Mavericks' two assistants, and Kemp said that this will be an opportunity to reevaluate the duties of his staff.
"This will be a job of evolution," Kemp said. "As with any change, it's a chance to reassess what you do. I want to utilize the strengths of everyone to help us achieve our goals the best way possible."
Kemp said that the director of operations position will be opened nationally. He said he expects it to be filled within 4-6 weeks.
Fohr, a native of Grand Forks, N.D., played hockey for the Mavericks from 1998-2002 and earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science from UNO in 2003 while serving as an undergraduate assistant coach. He was an administrative assistant at the University of Miami(Ohio)in 2003-04 before returning to UNO as the director of hockey operations in 2004.
Nick's wife, Lindsey, was an All-American track athlete at UNO in 2002.
