Maverick Trio Makes Impact in Northwoods League

A trio of Maverick baseball players, juniors Tim Huber and Bryan Frew, and Nebraska-Lincoln transfer Wes Simmons all had solid seasons in the Northwoods League competing for the Eau Claire Express.
Huber, a lefthander from Omaha, was named to the post-season all-star team while leading the league in wins with a 9-1 record and a 2.88 ERA. Huber also collected 67 strikeouts in 78 innnings.
Frew, who earned all-North Central Conference honors last season, ranked in the top three for the Express in batting average (.282), stolen bases (19), RBIs (22), and hits (60). Frew led the NCC in 2007 in stolen bases and runs scored.
Simmons finished with a 3-2 record and a 4.24 ERA in 68 innings pitched.
