UNO Concludes Classic With Sweep Over CSUP

OMAHA, Neb. -- The UNO Maverick volleyball team improved to 3-1 on the season with their second sweep of the day, a convincing 30-15, 30-20, 30-24 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo in the final match of the UNO Classic at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
Middle blockers Ellen Thommes and Carlie Christensen combined for 33 kills and hit a blistering .652 to lead UNO in the victory. Thommes recorded a career-high 18 kills and hit .607 while adding three blocks. Christensen added 15 kills on .722 hitting with only two errors in 18 attempts. She also added a match-high six blocks.
Senior setter Katie Agnew dished out 40 assists as the Mavericks hit a season-high .348 for the match.
Freshman Jamie Tooley led the Maverick defense with 14 digs.
The Mavericks will travel to Lakeland, Fla. next Friday and Saturday, Aug. 31-Sept. 1 for the Florida Southern Classic.
