Mavericks No. 7 in NFCA Preseason Poll

The Maverick softball team will begin the season in the No. 7 slot in the preseason poll released this week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation.
UNO, which finished 34-20 and advanced to the NCAA II finals, opens the season March 1 in a tournament in Pittsburg, Kan.
UNO won the North Central Regional title last year, sweeping through the field unbeaten in four games, to advance to the final eight before dropping its first two games. UNO has played in 18 straight regional tournaments, eight of them under coach Jeanne Scarpello.
UNO will return 12 letterwinners, including five position starters and one starting pitcher from last year's squad.
