Wright Earns NCC Honor

LaToya Wright's back-to-back career-high performances, which helped the Mavericks extend their winning streak to nine games, also earned her a share of North Central Conference player of the week honors. Wright shares the honor with Minnesota State's Alex Andrews.
Wright, a junior from Galesburg, Ill., averaged 24 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game in UNO's three-game sweep of its opponents on a trip to Hawaii. After an 18-point outing vs. BYU-Hawaii, she added a career-best 26 points and 17 rebounds against Hawaii Pacific and upped that with 28 points in a win over Chaminade. Wright shot a combined 70 percent from the field and hit 7 of 10 three-point attempts.
The Mavericks, off to their best start in school history at 14-1, host Augustana Thursday night at 6 to open NCC play at Sapp Fieldhouse.
