Maverick's Annual Scrimmage Set For Sunday

Omaha, Neb. - Maverick hockey fans will be able to get their first glimpse of the 2008-09 team Sunday afternoon as the University of Nebraska at Omaha hits the ice for their annual Red/White intrasquad scrimmage at Moylan IcePlex off of 124th and Maple. Faceoff for the preview is set for 4 p.m. and will be followed by a post-game picnic sponsored by the Blue Line Club.
The scrimmage will feature the entire 27-man UNO roster divided into two separate squads, the Red and the White. The game will last approximately 90 minutes and is free to anyone who wants to attend.
The post game picnic will offer fans a chance to enjoy a hot dog and soda while they interact with their favorite Maverick players and get to know some of the newcomers to this year's team. The picnic is open to the public with a small donation of five dollars for Blue Line Club members and seven dollars for any non-members.
UNO also will be hosting its annual hockey media day on Monday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
The Mavs kick off their 2008-09 season on Monday, Oct. 13, with a 7:05 p.m. exhibition game against the University of Manitoba at the Qwest Center Omaha, followed by the 2008 Mutual of Omaha Stampede on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18.
