UNO Last Week: The Mavericks are coming off a 93-50 win over Doane College last Saturday. UNK transfer junior #Jeff Martin# led all scorers with 18 points including a game-high 4 three-pointers. Sophomore #Mitch Albers# had 16 points. Junior #Dion Curry led all players with 7 rebounds while senior Michael Jenkins# handed out 7 assists.
This Week: The University of Nebraska at Omaha men's basketball team takes to the court for three games this week. The Mavericks will visit Nebraska-Kearney on Monday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. They'll then head farther west to play in the Al Kaly Shrine Classic hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo. The Mavs will take on Western State on Friday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. CST before facing CSU-Pueblo on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. CST.
The Records: The Mavericks are 1-0 on the season after earning a 93-50 win over Doane College on Nov. 15. This will be the first game of the season for UNK. Last season, the Lopers were 16-13 and 13-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mavericks also will be the first test of the season for Western State. Last year, the Mountaineers were 10-17. The Thunderwolves of Colorado State Pueblo have played one exhibition game this season, losing to Division I Marquette, 93-74. They will face Kansas Wesleyan before squaring off with the Mavericks. Last season, CSU-Pueblo posted a record of 10-17.
The Coaches: Derrin Hansen is in his fourth season as the head coach at UNO. The 1991 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University has a career record of 53-39 as a head coach. He spent seven years at UNO as an assistant coach before taking over the head job in 2005. The Lopers are coached by Tom Kropp who is in his 19th season at UNK. The 1975 Kearney State College alumnus is 390-147 all-time at his alma mater. Mike Moskowitz is beginning his second season as head coach at Western State. Last year, he led the program to a 10-17 mark. He is a 2003 graduate of Adams State College. Patrick Eberhart guides the Colorado State Pueblo program. The 1991 graduate of Adams State is 33-49 all-time at CSU-Pueblo.
The Series: The Lopers lead the all-time series with the Mavericks, 46-37. Last season, UNO earned a 76-66 win over UNK at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavs are 1-0 all-time against Western State and trail CSU-Pueblo 9-8 all-time.

Coming Up: The Mavericks will take a week off to ready for their first action in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. UNO will travel to Washburn University on Wednesday, Dec. 3 and then visit Fort Hays State on Friday, Dec. 5. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
