Jenkins Named Nebraska D-2 Player of the Week

Nebraska-Omaha wing man #Michael Jenkins# was named the Nebraska Division II men's Player of the Week for the week just concluded. Jenkins helped the Mavericks win three games last week by averaging 18 points per game while shooting 67 percent from the field and 86 percent at the line.
At Nebraska-Kearney on Monday, Nov. 17, the senior from Bellevue West High School shot .714 from the floor and made all 7 free throws to earn 17 points in an 89-68 road win. Against Western State on Friday, Nov. 21, Jenkins had 17 more points to lead all scorers and was 5-for-5 from the line in a 95-71 win. In that game, he had a game-high 9 assists. In the weekend finale on Saturday, he had 20 points to lead the Mavs to an 83-66 win over Colorado State-Pueblo in the final game of the Al Kaly Shrine Classic. For his efforts during the 2-day event, Jenkins was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
The Mavericks return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 3 when they visit Washburn University for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
