Mavericks at No. 5 Michigan State

Nebraska-Omaha travels to East Lansing, Michigan to take on defending national champions, No. 5 Michigan State in a two-game CCHA series. Friday the Mavs take to the ice at 6:05 p.m. CST and 3:05 p.m. CST on Saturday. Saturday afternoon the game will be televised on FSN Detroit.
Media Coverage
The games will be broadcast on KKAR, 1290 AM, with the pre-game show beginning 30 minutes before face-off. Greg Harrington will call the action, with Terry Leahy providing color commentary.

UNO now stands at 11-12-3 overall and 8-9-3 in the CCHA, the Spartans are 17-5-5 overall this season and are third in conference with a record of 13-2-3.
The Coaches
Nebraska-Omaha's Mike Kemp is in his 11th season as the Maverick head coach. Kemp is a 1975 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. The Duluth, Minn., native is 173-199-48 at UNO overall and has a 99-110-36 mark in the CCHA. Rick Comley is in his sixth season with MSU and has an overall record of 133-78-24 and is 13-8-3 against UNO.

MSU leads the series 17-8-1 and holds a 11-5-0 advantage in East Lansing. Tomas Klempa leads the team in career scoring against the Spartans with nine points (1-8--9).

Nebraska-Omaha skated against Michigan State in the second round of the CCHA playoffs last season in East Lansing. The Spartans swept the Mavs 4-2 and 4-1.

The players enjoyed a weekend off after their annual trip to Fairbanks, Alaska. The Mavs swept the Nanooks for the second-straight season in Fairbanks. Friday night Bryan Marshall recorded two goals and Bill Bagron scored the game-winning goal to down the Nanooks 3-1. Saturday night Brandon Scero earned his 100th and 101st career points and Juha Uotila scored the game winner 29 seconds into overtime.

Nebraska-Omaha will return home to the Qwest Center Omaha Feb. 8-9 to host clustermate Ohio State, the games start at 7:05 p.m. CST. Feb. 9 is senior night for the Mavericks and the game will be televised by Nebraska Educational Television across the state and simulcast on CSTV.
