Mavs Return to the Civic for Key CCHA Match

The Mavericks return to their original home arena this weekend, hosting Bowling Green in a series that will impact playoff matchups. The series closes out the league regular season at home for the Mavericks. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. CST both Friday and Saturday night.

The games will be broadcast on KKAR, 1290 AM, with the pre-game show beginning 30 minutes before face-off. Greg Harrington will call the action, with Terry Leahy providing color commentary.

Nebraska-Omaha comes into the game at even .500 after a win and a tie last weekend at home against Ohio State. The Mavericks are 13-13-4 overall and 11-11-4 in the CCHA. Bowling Green is at even .500 as well, with a 14-14-0 mark overall and an 11-11-0 league record.
The Coaches
UNO head coach Mike Kemp brings a 175-200-49 overall record into this weekend.
Kemp, UNO's only head coach in 11 seasons, is 101-110-37 in the CCHA. Bowling Green's Scott Paluch is 69-125-20 in his sixth season as the head coach. Paluch, a 1991 Bowling Green graduate, is 5-10-1 against
the Mavericks.

UNO won 3-2 in overtime and 7-5 in last year's fi rst round of the playoffs. Those wins followed four UNO victories in the 2006-07 regular season.
Last Meeting
The Mavericks swept Bowling Green in the fi rst round of CCHA Playoffs by scores of 3-2 and 7-5. UNO and BGSU skated for extra minutes March 2, 2007 at the Qwest when Mick Lawrence scorded at 4:24 of overtime to defeat the Falcons. The next night seven goals were scored in the fi rst period and UNO trailed 4-3 going into the second. In the last two periods the Mavs out scored the Falcons 4-1 to complete the sweep.

The Mavericks skated to a 3-3 tie at home against Ohio State on Friday, then celebrated Senior Night with a 5-2 win over the Buckeyes in front of a record home crowd of 10,598 at Qwest Center Omaha. Meanwhile, Bowling Green had a split at home against Alaska. The Falcons won Friday, 4-2, then lost to the Nanooks, 4-1.

The Mavericks will close the CCHA regular season schedule on Feb. 22-23 at Northern Michigan. UNO then will play the second half of its home-and-home series with Minnesota State on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Mankato.
